I always understood the distinction of his beat-producing ability and sample selection-however I never knew what specific aspects of rap he affected, only that he served as an inspiration to many modern-day artists. While I need not continue describing the prowess of someone so widely recognized for their musical ability, one particular commendation that West receives is how influential he has been in shaping the current state of rap. West has been putting out masterpieces of albums since his 2004 debut “The College Dropout.” Each new creation encompasses his characteristically visionary and immersive production, and his uncanny ability to master any type of flow and attitude, from melodic and touching like on “Hey Mama” to bold and biting like on “Gorgeous.” Name an achievement or milestone in the rapping game, and West has probably surpassed it, or simply created it in the first place. Excepted him the other guests also bring more versatility to the whole content and deliver some interesting verses.Kanye West is hailed in the hip hop community as one of the greatest rappers of all time. What idea is this to put a 6 minute-long live track as outro of such an album ? The presence of Kid Cudi is a miracle since him and Kanye are meant to work in duo in order to craft some of the most powerful songs and albums (like 'Kids See Ghosts' to only cite one). 'Pinocchio Story' also made me cring a bit. The track 'Robocop' is really weird as I find its production both deep and original and dull with its robotic useless repetitve sounds. If it can contribute to the charm of the project it surely also makes it seem more shallow and superficial than it is as it underlines Kanye's lack of artistic and content ideas. And it goes the same way for the second half on 'Bad News'. The first track 'Say You Will' is a perfect example as it simply consists in 6 minutes of the same repetitive monotone beat. And this one is particular as it often sounds repetitive, overly simple and sometimes looking effortless. This choice make the production appear to the fore. Anyway Kanye surprisingly made the choice to rap and sing less in order to let even more place to the music itself. As its title suggests this project significantly gravitate around the concepts of love, rupture and loss. No doubt that the overly famous 'My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy' already was in gestation as it was meant to come out two years later. Only a year after the great 'Graduation' Kanye goes back to work to produce '808s Heartbreak' which totally varies by its style, the themes Only a year after the great 'Graduation' Kanye goes back to work to produce '808s Heartbreak' which totally varies by its style, the themes adressed and its structure. Maybe I have to give this album another chance, but at least for now, this album's a 1. Again, I love Heartless, but Heartless is the only song on this album that I like, and the only reason why I didn't give this album a 0. Even now, I go back to Heartless at least a few times a week. I was once addicted to the song and listened to it several times a day. Here's the review: This album is one Kanye's worst albums. I decided to leave the review here to remind me how drastically tastes and opinions can change in the span of just a year. I previously gave this album a 1, before listening to it again and discovering its greatness. Not only is it a brilliant dive into Kanye's mind at the time, but it's one of the most influential albums of modern times, if not ever, influencing hip hop to this day. There's not one skip on it even the worst songs on the album are truly amazing. Well, I did and I was completely immersed into the world of the album, listening to it practically every moment I was awake. it was previously one of my least favorite albums of all time, but I always thought I should give it another shot. A few months ago, I decided to give this album another shot. It's just brilliant there's nothing else to say. My favorite album of Kanye's and one of my favorite albums of all time.
